A Beloved Prophet and Man...

In Loving Memory of Gordon B. Hinckley

June 23, 1910- January 27, 2008

President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through explosive growth during his more than 12 years as president, died at 7 p.m. today of causes incident to age, surrounded by family. He was 97.

He traveled the world during his tenure, which was marked by a number of significant milestones, including the "Proclamation to the World on the Family," construction of dozens of small temples and the creation of several new quorums of the Seventy. He called for increased fellowshipping of new converts and reaching out to other faiths. Church membership has grown from 9 million to more than 13 million members during his administration.

His ministry was characterized by a strong desire to be out among the people. He traveled more than half a million miles and spoke to hundreds of thousands of members in more than 60 nations, employing his mastery of electronic media to bring unprecedented press attention to the church.

Under his leadership, the 21,000-seat Conference Center, north of the Salt Lake Tabernacle, was built and dedicated, and the portion of Main Street between Temple Square and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building was turned into a plaza. Online computer access to church information as well as online and CD access to family history resources grew exponentially.

President Hinckley, who spent nearly 14 years as a counselor in the First Presidency, was set apart as 15th church president on March 12, 1995, three months before his 85th birthday. He was sustained in solemn assembly at the 165th Annual General Conference that April 1.

He then set out to visit as many church members as possible in their homelands. He continued an ambitious travel schedule throughout his stewardship, urged the members to get their houses in order and warned against pornography and maltreatment of spouses and children. The "Proclamation to the World on the Family," that he announced in September 1995 gave Latter-day Saints a ready reference for their beliefs on family life, and has been used as a model by international organizations seeking to preserve the traditional family.

With the death of President Hinckley, the First Presidency was dissolved and the Quorum of the Twelve became the governing body of the church. President Hinckley's counselors, Presidents Thomas S. Monson and Henry B. Eyring, took their places — first and 11th — within the 14-member quorum. Until his death in August 2007, President James E. Faust served as President Hinckley's second counselor for 12 years.

President Hinckley married Majorie Pay in the Salt Lake Temple in 1937. They have five children, 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Sister Hinckley passed away 6 April 2004.

He is a beloved Prophet and man, that will be missed.
Thank you, President Hinckley for bringing the gospel more
fulling into my life and temples to many.

Friday funny...

I thought this one was very funny, for all those "Office" watchers (including my husband). I hope everyone has a Wonderful Weekend!!

Mommy I miss you...

I am just still missing my mom. It was SO nice to have her here and spend time with her. When she visited it was the first time since I got home in Aug of 2006, that I spent time with her all by my self.

I love this picture of us. She is so beautiful, she really has become a great friend.

Ok... nothing really is going on. This weekend was a 3 day weekend, which is GREAT!! No school tomorrow.

Kristofer and I have had tons of fun... just spending time with each other.

As I pondered today...

2 Nephi 1:25 "And I exceedingly fear and tremble because of you, lest [Nephi] shall suffer again; for behold, ye have accused him that he sought power and authority over you; but I know that he hath not sought for power nor authority over you, but he hath sought the glory of God, and your own eternal welfare."

Lehi is scared that his sons are going to rebel against Nephi (his righteous son), as they had done in the past; because Nephi is younger than them.

As I was studying my scriptures this morning I read this verse. I had it highlighted from previous readings, but this time I pondered this scripture a bit longer. I thought of us as children how we rebel and try our hardest to not take the advice our parents give us. Our parents (or any others) we seek advice from (for the most part) are looking out for our well being and our future.

I was thinking of when I become a mother... and it kind of scares me. I don't want authority of any sorts, all I want is for my family to be an eternal family. I have to really see it is through the gospel of Jesus Christ in which we can do that and we have more freedoms that way. How do I as a mother show my children that? That yes Heavenly Father has set guidelines, but they are our own good. Will I be able to teach them all that my parents taught me? Can I be the kind of mother like the "meanst mother" (an article)?

I love the scriptures and I am grateful for the words of Lehi and what we can learn from him.

Part of My Heart Not Apart of Me...

YAY, for Mimi... Look how much those little girls love their Mimi. And I promise you their Mimi loves them!

While my family was here we all went to church, and it just so happened that we all were wearing red, white, and black. It was funny we all matched so we took a family picture!

I really miss all of them. I wish they all lived closer! :(

Miss Cheezy!!!!

I just have the cutest nieces!! This one being the cheesiest... This is Miss Emerson. She is my oldest Sister's, Ashley, youngest daughter. This little girl is SO much fun and so sweet!! I wish I had a picture if her doing all the cute things she did while visiting her Aunt Corri. She laid down to watch SpongeBob with me... she even threw away food she didnt want to eat. It was So cute, she would get off her chair go over the the sink, open the cabinet, and throw away her trash!! I just love it.

Don't worry moms out there, Kristofer and I only have Melaleuca products down there, so if swallowed, it only takes drinking water to flush out the product.

Kristofer and I had so much fun with Ashley's little girls. Maybe soon we too can begin thinking about our own little family. ;) NO worries nothing, yet!!

Its that time of Rexburg year!!!

SNOW and COLDNESS!!!
It has been snowing and snowing and snowing!!! It started Christmas Eve and for that whole week it didn't stop. Now it is still cold and icy, and it still snows.

Ok, as you see it is COLD. We cant really afford the gas, so we bought an oil heater. Electric bill still isn't too high. YAY, for little apartment to heat up!! (kinda) :)

This is my man putting the heater together so we wont freeze this winter. I love him!!!

I love to see the Temple...

The Rexburg Temple is almost ready to be dedicated. They are now having the Open House. The dedication will be February 3. My family came to see it too!! I am so lucky to have a fun family willing to come from Boise and Missouri to spend time with my husband and I and to see the temple.Danielle, Mom, and I will be going through today.
